Prayer in 2020

We are changing venues for a bit, and going to meet at the Jeneses Building on Linden Road.

Please join us for prayer every second Monday of the month, from 7:30 to 8:30pm.  We may do some prayerwalking as part of this season of prayer.

We pray in the name of the Lord Jesus, for the glory of the Father, and in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Key to HOW we pray in 2020 will be our meeting on Mon 13th January, where we will share what we are getting on our hearts, and how we should be coming together.  Increasingly, prayer is becoming a focus for sermons, for seasons, for groups and individuals across this country, partly because of the national political issues, but also because the time is drawing close.

One of the key Scriptures for prayer is 2 Chron 7:14:

14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

We are called to be faithful to this in prayer.

It is easy to get intimidated when we see the word ‘prayer’.  It is more important to listen to God than to speak.  Here are some benefits of prayer in a small group (like ours!)

  • We get to encourage each other
  • We can say Amen to other peoples’ prayers
  • We start to build a connection with Christians we didn’t know before
  • It provides a focus for our praying for the rest of the time
  • It turns our hearts away from the world and towards Jesus

I recommend you try it!
